The General Store

I finished my little General Store room display about a week ago.  I found it hard to get good pictures because you can't see very well into the store front so I shot pictures from the top down.  This little box has a glass top that covers the top and lets light in nicely from there.
I see Mr. Downs has a customer

Here are a couple of shots through the front windows.  I had to use flash so there are some glare but you get the idea.

Thanks for looking!

My Rosy Bungalow by the Sea

This is a classic contractor style cottage done in half scale
Half scale means that 1/2 inch equals 1 foot

Here is a close up of the front porch.  Do you see the little flip flops by the door mat?
Come right into my cozy living room!  I made the little couch and the rosy easy chair.  Notice the sea shells laying around the bungalow in different places.   I love making little lamps too.

Here's a peek through the open room divider to the kitchen.  I redesigned the downstairs for an open plan.

Come into my cozy kitchen....have a donut!
Upstairs I added a nice little desk to fill a nice little corner

Love my pretty rosy shabby bedroom!  I shabbied some pretty mundane brown furniture and made the little pink chair.  Building this bungalow was so much fun!

Last, the pinky bathroom with a little seashell mirror and wallpaper.  I would love a bathroom like this!

The Little Red Mouse House

Back in November I picked up this goofy little unfinished dollhouse in Tuesday Morning.  I forgot to take a picture of how it looked in the rough unfinished state.  Although completely assembled,  the wood was rough and uneven all the way through.  The door and windows were way out of proportion for the rest of the house and there wasn't a corner that was straight in any of it.  It didn't fit as a 1:12 inch scale nor was it 1:24 scale so I fudged it here and there and went with half scale ( 1:24).  The idea was to use up scraps from my stash not buying anything to finish it.  I did buy the felting wool and needles in an attempt to make a mouse family for my house.  As with most of my houses, I like to decorate with decoupage as an added feature.  What furniture I didn't have I made from scrap wood and such.   Lots of fun!   Thanks for visiting!!

The house is hinged and opens front and back.

Raggedy Ann and Andy's Quilted House

One day in 1915, as the story goes, Johnny Gruelle’s daughter Marcella brought him an old rag doll. He drew a face on the worn fabric and called the doll Raggedy Ann. Gruelle, a cartoonist and illustrator, wrote a children’s book about Raggedy Ann in 1918. Publisher P. F. Volland arranged to sell Raggedy Ann dolls along with the books, and the tie-in between Gruelle’s Raggedy Ann Stories and the dolls proved a marketing hit. In 1920, Gruelle introduced the Raggedy Andy Stories. In them, when humans weren’t looking, Raggedy Ann and Andy came to life and embarked on many adventures. Gruelle averaged one new book each year for twenty years. The books and dolls have remained popular for the past century. Raggedy Ann entered the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2002. Her brother Raggedy Andy joined her in 2007. The dolls are reunited in this place of honorwhere they belong, together of course, for always.

This is my second 1:24 scale dollhouse.   The theme is loosely based on the wonderful children's stories of two dolls named Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy.

The color scheme is based on the doll's outfits
and a little Americana red, white and blue.
                                                         Note the quilted roof pattern.

A close up of the front door and windows

The house is so small its hard to shoot
the whole thing so you can see it well.

I've added this photo with a regular chap stick to give you and idea of the size I am working with.
Look at the bed and compare to the chap stick.

A cozy living room done in a heart quilt pattern wallpaper

Red gingham walls and a patch heart quilt decorate the kitchen walls
The hutch by the window is a magnet and the dishes very tiny
porcelain charms.

I am kind of proud of the kitchen appliances because they are so small.  The stove is
actually a magnet and I made the sink and fridge myself.  I had a hard time getting
the camera inside the kitchen to take the photo!

Here's Marcella's bedroom on the second floor
I made the tiny 1" Raggedy and Andy dolls sitting
on the bed as well as all the rugs, bed dressings,
bead lamps and Marcella sitting on the rug in front
of the bed.

The bath next to Marcella's room on the second floor
I see that the ironing is all caught up!

Here it is!!!   My Greenleaf Arthur is done!   I choose to do a Mary Engelbreit inspired build as you can see its very "busy" with lots of bright color and polka dots galore... I love polka dots!!!
I used paper dolls instead of real dolls as Mary Engelbreit use to publish lots of paper dolls with outfits.   I was always a big fan of paper dolls too!
This house was so much fun!

Please click on the picture to see it full size!  There is a running slide show at the bottom of the page if you want to go from one photo to the next.

I did a lot of decoupage on the exterior I think it gives it a lot of fun personality!

Inside is a riot of patterns and colors as you can see!

Here's the kitchen...."Life is just a chair of bowlies" to quote ME
